At the invitation of the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in New Delhi, Counsellor Adi Hatem Mohammed, the Assistant Cultural Attaché, Assistant Professor Dr. Firas Sabah Al-Turaihi, participated in a meeting held at the Embassy premises on 23 June 2026. The meeting was attended by Counsellor Ahmed Hashim Saleh, Head of the Cultural Affairs File at the Embassy, and Dr. Ayat Saad, Head of the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Office at the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in New Delhi.
During the meeting, the participants discussed ways to strengthen cultural cooperation between the Iraqi Cultural Attaché and the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Office. They emphasized the importance of promoting cultural diplomacy through the launch of joint cultural initiatives and expanding engagement with India s distinguished academic and cultural institutions. The discussions focused on showcasing the rich cultural and civilizational heritage of both Iraq and Egypt while enhancing the Arab cultural presence in India.
The two sides also explored practical mechanisms for initiating a joint cultural cooperation programme, including the organization of academic and cultural events that would deepen bilateral collaboration and foster stronger ties with Indian universities and cultural institutions.
The meeting concluded in a warm and cordial atmosphere. On behalf of the Embassy, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. presented Dr. Ayat Saad with a commemorative shield featuring prominent symbols of Mesopotamian civilization. Dr. Saad expressed her sincere appreciation for the warm hospitality, affirming her admiration for Mesopotamian civilization as the sister civilization of the Nile Valley, and conveyed her enthusiasm to commence the proposed joint cultural cooperation project between the two sides.
